Who’s in need of some free fitness apps? I’ve got your back.
For me, lately, I’ve been trying to focus on my health.
While I would say I’m a generally healthy person, I go through phases where I completely loose all my healthy tendencies. Suddenly, I’ll be eating all the packaged food that I can get my hands on, and getting in regular exercise becomes a complete thing of the past.
Sound familiar?
I think we all go through these little bumps in the road, but I’m striving to make them less frequent, and adapt a healthy lifestyle that I want to stick with. I’ve only got this body for the rest of my life, I might as well try my best to keep the healthiest lifestyle that I can, right?
I think so, and that’s why I wanted to share some of my personal favorite fitness apps with you. I don’t have a gym membership or anything like that, so I’m always trying to stay up-to-date on free fitness apps.
If you feel the same, take a look at some of these free fitness apps, and let me know how you find them. Let’s get healthy together!
1. MyFitnessPal
We’ve probably all heard this before: “80% diet, 20% exercise.”
Or what about, “Abs are made in the kitchen?”
Well, even though these remarks might make you roll your eyes, they’re kind of true, which is why it’s so important to keep track of the food you’re eating if you want to live a healthier lifestyle.
MyFitnessPal makes it insanely easy to add food to your food diary, keeping track of not only calories consumed, but it also tracks how how much protein, fat, calcium, sodium, etc. you’re getting.
You can even simply scan the barcode of a product and it’s instantly added to your food diary. So easy that there’s absolutely no excuse to not use this app.
Personally, of all my free fitness apps, it’s probably my most used one, and I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to make their health a priority.
2. Yonder
Sometimes the best exercise you can get involves making use of all the free workout space we have available to us.
Whether it’s hiking, biking, running, or even skiing, all you have to do is set your location on Yonder, and it will suggest all the outdoor spots you can use for your exercise.
As someone who is also trying to make it a priority to get outside in nature more, this app is excellent for me.
So join me! Get out of the house, breathe in some fresh air, and exercise all at the same time. Perfect.
3. Nike + Training Club
This app is especially useful for those of you who are trying to save money on a gym membership, or perhaps simply don’t like public workout spaces.
Don’t worry, I’ve got your back.
This app from Nike provides free workout routines, for all levels.
So whether you’re looking to workout for 15 minutes or 45 minutes, this app is there for you. They even have different workouts depending on what intensity level you want. High intensity burn, or a simple stretch session, all your workouts are available right at your fingertips with this free fitness app. No excuses.
4. Step Trackers
Recently, I’ve been hearing a lot about how important it is to get your 10,000 steps in everyday. And, while this isn’t exactly new information, it’s such an easy thing to do for your health that I’ve started making it a priority.
Having said that, though, I don’t have a fancy fitness tracker like a FitBit.
But guess what?
If you simply want to track your steps, you don’t need to spend money on a fitness tracker.
Most phones have health apps built right in that will track your steps for you (I know the iPhone specifically does under the “health” tab).
While the steps might not be as accurate as a fitness tracker, it’s still a great indicator of your fitness levels.
Go ahead, give your step tracker a peak. You might be surprised to see just how few steps you’re getting (I know I was).
5. Apple Music
While not exactly free, there’s no way I can skip mentioning this app.
If you’re the kind of person who needs pumping music to get you through that intense cardio burn, having music at your fingertips is going to make all the difference in your workout.
Personally, as an iPhone user, I love Apple Music, because they give you 3 months to try out the app for free!
Why not give it a go? It could make all the difference in the intensity level of your workouts.
6. Runkeeper
If you love running like me, there’s no way you can keep going without this app.
Runkeeper will track all your runs, allow you to set goals, and show you your progress. It even allows you to share your runs with friends to stay motivated! So go on, get a group of friends together and get running.
7. Blogilates

If you haven’t heard of Casey Ho and her world of Blogilates, there’s a slight chance you’ve been living under a rock.
One of my favorite people to follow in the fitness industry, you’ll likely find Casey’s energy and passion for fitness to be contagious.
While she does offer a paid workout plan called Piit28, she also offers a huge selection of pilates workout videos on her Youtube channel. You can pick and choose which ones to do, or you can sign up for her email newsletter, and every month she’ll send you a workout calendar, showing you exactly what videos to do in order to get a full body workout each week.
Not only that, she has an app with a whole community of women (and men) who swear by the pilates workout routines. Use the app to gain inspiration and communicate with others.
I will warn you, though, that there a lot of in-app purchases with Blogilates, so stick with the free Youtube videos and use the app to gather all the inspiration you’ll need to achieve those goals.
Trust me, once you start doing these pilate workouts, you’ll quickly fall in love.
8. PopSugar Fitness Videos

After Blogilates, my favorite free videos to use for my workouts come from PopSugar.
They have so many great routines available on their channel, and they’re all so different! I hate getting stuck in a fitness rut, but if you try out these videos, you’ll find something new all the time.
Personally, their videos that focus on high intensity interval training are my absolute favorites. ‘Cause, believe me, if you try out these videos, you will sweat (and you’ll feel great after!).
While the tendency is to focus on health and fitness in January, I’m ready to start focusing on my health now.
Anyone with me?
With these free fitness apps (and videos!), you’ll be ahead of the game, so that when 2019 hits, you’re already in a great position to keep pushing through on your fitness goals.
Let’s all get a jump on our health journeys, shall we?
Oh, and if you found these free fitness apps helpful, feel free to share this image on Pinterest with your followers. I very much appreciate it! 🙂
